Just for your information, a sheet of paper is not ESD safe. The best solution is to use a grounded ESD safe mat and wristband.

I've worked with ESD sensitive devices for years and never had any problem but I've never worked with devices costing the price of a CPU.
Also, the problem caused by a ESD is not always visible right away. It may weaken the part and create a problem in the future.

I didn't take any real extra precautions and used nothing but a razor blade... 4670k...
I did not put the IHS back on... the only thing between the silicon and the waterblock is the thermal paste...
