Hey all, as many of you know I'm not an intel fan, however I have two very similar FX-8350/2xR9 290 rigs. Although I'm between jobs and on a budget I am getting the itch to revamp one of them with something new and Zen is a ways off yet.
This would be a gaming and/or OpenCL workstation, so looking for an i7 that is highly overclockable, as well as a suitable mobo with decent phases, crossfire, and overclocking options. So probably a 4770k/4790k + decent Z97 mobo, but if the price is right I'd consider a 5820k/mobo/ram combo. Would even look at a 3770k/Z77 if it was a real screamer and inexpensive.
I'll probably use my Archon build as the foundation, so this would be the new home of your hardware:
Corsair RM1000 Gold
Fractal Design XL R2 (modded)
2x R9 290X (hynix)
4x4GB DDR3 Samsung Magic Ram
XSPC Bayres with D5
2x Swiftech MCW82
XSPC Raystorm
Swiftech MCR320-XP
Swiftech MCR220-QP
Swiftech MCR140-QP
XSPC Black Chrome fittings + white 1/2 ID Primoflex
Fans are Fractal Design 140mm and Corsair SP120 performance edition
Lamptron FC Touch
Samsung 850 EVO 250GB
2X WD Caviar Blue 1TB
Thanks for looking!
