  • Throneroom - By: Kaidis86 Aka PartyBros Design!

Well here we are again for another year! Big thanks to Daz for putting the competition again! Huge thanks to the judges for lending your time to the competition as well as the admins and sponsors for your time and prizes!

    OK SO! HERE WE GO!

This year I have decided to theme my build after Emperor Palpatine's Death Star Throneroom! Hence the title: Throneroom

Shortly after the competition ended last year I purchased myself a Shapeoko 3 Xxl so this year will feature many custom milled parts designed and milled entirely by me! (I also picked up a laser but I don't know If i'll have it installed in time to use it for this mod)

    Components list is as follows!

Case: Thermaltake Tower 900: Snow Edition
    Motherboard: Maximus XI Formula
CPU: Intel I9 9900k (Aiming for 5ghz all core after it's all ready)
Ram: Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB 3200mhz (32gb-2x16gb)
GPU: nVidia Titan XP Collectors Edition Star wars x2 in SLI (one jedi card and one empire card)
    PSU: Corsair Rm1000 1000w 80+ Gold rated

    Cooling Components:

    Reservoir: Heatkiller Tube 200 d5 mount x2
    Pump: Laing d5 x2
Tubing: Bitspower 16mm brass hard tube, Nickel plated silver finish
Fittings: Darkside 16mm hardline, EK Torque 3-way, and assorted Darkside angled adapters
Cpu Block: Heatkiller IV pro Black Nickel lga1151 mounting
GPU Block: Heatkiller IV Black Nickel x2
Flow meter: Barrowch Flow meter oled display x2
Radiators: AlphaCool NexXxos xt45 480mm copper crossflow x2
Fans: Thermaltake Riing Triio 120mm RGB x12

    Custom made bits!

The plan so far is coming together piece by piece!

I'm 100% custom making new side panels, which i'm keeping a secret til they're finished
    Custom Power button
    Custom Power LED
Customizing the top panel to include some harvested bits of the Titans
    Custom Cables
Custom floor plate and backplate shrouding
    Custom Case Feet
And custom housing for the reservoirs to match the Aesthetic!

And without further Adieu!!! Let me inaugurate the competition this year with the first Log and Photos

Starting off with the Obligatory "PC Chair Full of Components", and the chassis painting... Since i got a screaming deal on the case (it unfortunately wasn't the colour i wanted... but why would that stop any of us ) I picked up a Snow edition Thermaltake Tower 900 as the basis for my mod this year as "interior real estate" was what I was looking for!

aaaaaaaand after giving it a touch of the Dark Side (pun 110% intended)

I may have been mildly light headed after this........

She's a big beast of a case so it took a LOT of paint to get it evenly coated.

More to come very very soon

        Update!

Have been working away imagining, assembling, painting, cutting, milling, designing and tweaking things, and have made a solid amount of progress! These bits were all accomplished over the past 2 months, while I've had spare time in and out of school for AutoCAD!

Aaaaaaaaand a little more "Imperial" finish to the side panel. (the other side is done with the same pattern, but mirrored and not silver striped on top of the red to reflect the "Master and Apprentice" Rule of two the Sith follow. The silver stripe signifies the master, The lone red mirrored stripes signify the Apprentice. It's done purposefully and symbolically! It'll be more apparent once everything is assembled. I <3 Star Wars lol

And since i'm doing a custom power button, I chopped the power button and LED portion off the PCB under the front I/O Plate with the dremel!

Last Update for the Day! Some previews of what you'll see inside the case that's being milled on my shapeoko , and one of the many custom bits planned with parts I harvested from the Titan Xp Empire edition that will be Repurposed as the Power LED !!

Material Loaded and ready to shred!! 1/4" 6061 t6 Aluminum plate! I'll be using a 1/4" 2 flute HSS flat endmill from Amana tools for the profiling cuts!

Roughing profile complete... After a few small hiccups lol. Still learning the best feeds and speeds and calculating chip loads etc... But learning is good Butthole clenching terror inducing sounds are made when it fails, but boy it makes your reflexes lightning quick! hahaha You can see the 2 spots the spindle wandered while i was cutting, but I've got it sorted out now and lord knows i've got enough aluminum here for a couple spares of what i'm doing.... prudent planning !

Thank you very much! I'm excited to finish it as well and post the finished project!

And here's a little update for this afternoon!!

The Empire Titan Xp has been entirely ripped apart! I flipped the script and performed Order:66 on the Empire card to harvest it's organs for the mod! As the rule of two always goes.... the apprentice will supplant the master.

getting some tubing bent for the back portion of the case, wanted to cut down on the cost of fittings since i'm already using so many, so i decided to go with clear PETG in the back of the case from the radiators to the front panel so I can achieve the 90's with bends rather than fittings (since as we know especially if we watched Daz snap the tubes i'm going to be using, trying to bend them) Nickel plated brass doesn't bend well after being plated!

And that's what she's gonna look like in the back! mirrored tubes on both sides coming to a passthrough in a custom panel shroud! All the guts of this case were removed for space.... no drive cages, no front fan mount and drive cage with logo... bare bones was a necessity!

Can't wait to see your result. You got an early start. I'm entering but first time, I don't know what case to use and extent of parts. Basically literally two systems and two cases. All I know is its either going to be Caselabs S8 or LianLi PC-011 XL with an 3900/X570 Hero VII/2080TI . Then the other cases will get an 3700X/ X570 Tuff/2060(air cooled). Lot of moving parts.

I still got lot to plan out for the build. I'm waiting for some items to be released and then I can determine what works for me. Yet, I want to minimize the new stuff to minimum. Good thing is I can take my time as I can still run off the build in the 3900X.

Another day and another mod super happy with this one!!!

My custom power button. Made from the hilt of a miniature master replica Darth Vader lightsaber. I tore it apart and wired a switch into the button portion of the hilt (it was previously not a button just a solid plastic piece) wired it up through the body of the saber, and sealed it back together with some superglue!

                          here she is!!
