    Liz Art Lab
    Introduction

Hi everyone, I am really happy to be here again this year. The last project (Sx4) was very challenging and helped me in many ways, especially in finding my modder style.

Big thanks to DazMode for this wonderful event. This is a great source of motivation to participate in this case modding contest. Liz would definitely not be the same without the Sx4 CAM2020 winning prices; the EKWB price covered ~30% of the custom loop cost, then, the Nvidia RTX 2060s sold to a friend, paid ~70% of the hardware.

    The Old Rad
    Harrison

For this project, I was looking for realy special rad in shape, size and aesthetic.

    And... Then... I got lucky!

I found this beautiful and incredibly rare heater radiator:

I am literally in love with this piece of copper!

      Fins and plate

The first thing I restored, was all those bend fins with those long nose pliers:

      And then, the Identification plate:

Hey COLLARD, very nice find. If that’s an old automotive heater core, I have the feeling that you will be getting quite a few offers for it. Good luck with this year’s competition

          Cleaning

The outside/inside of this old heater core was really dirty by, mostly, motor oil.

I had to clean it with petroleum and chemical cleaner. This was a pretty long process.

          Pictures after cleaning:

              Fittings

An essential mod need to be done one this rad; soldering G1/4 fittings. I used those little build in extender left from the EK rad I disassembled last year to make the PSU cooler and I soldered them on The Old Rad.

This necessary multisteps method is to keep this nice brushed metal finish on those circular flat tubes.

This beautiful Old Rad need to be vented properly to be used as an efficient water cooler. The perfect thing I found is a 10" showcase base. It just need a hole:
