  • Thermaltake V21 or what? Help me choose!

I'm going through my case options for my next build. It's going to be matx x99 and unfortunately Watercooling isn't in the cards this time. The plan is to put a ton of high powered stuff in a small case with decent airflow. I noticed the v21 right away because the whole horizontal motherboard thing has always appealed to me. Does anyone have any experience with this case? It's dirt cheap so I'm guessing there is a good chance the build quality is shifty.

The other options I'm weighing are the fractal design define mini c, fractal design node 804 and the bitfenix prodigy m.

The caselabs bullet bh4 would be choice number one in an ideal world but I'll be working within a smaller budget and can put that extra cash into the CPU and GPU.

I have done a couple projects in the v21 and I love it. You can orientate the mobo tray any way you like the case is very modular. And yes the price is great. Only issue I had with it were screws from the factory can be a lil ridiculous how tight they are. Stripped a couple when taking the case apart.

Awesome thanks. Good to the opinion of someone who does quality builds. Hard to trust hardware review sites since most of them don't go too much into detail or delve into the cases usefulness in high end builds. I think I'll give this one a go. Save bit on the case and then buy more fans lol.

The v21 is good and very flexible. Also for airflow you can't beat the Fractal arc mini r2. You can put two 120mm fans in front, one in the back, one on the bottom (as long as your psu is 170mm or less in length) and up to three 120mm fans on top. And all the fan spaces except the rear exhaust are filtered.

3 plus years after release, other than the Case labs bullet cases, this is the most flexible Micro ATX case out there.
DS340-E: Core I7 3770K Undervolted at 4.3Ghz, Asrock Z77 Extreme-3, 16GB of Adata XPG V2 gold RAM at 2200mhz, XFX R9 290 with EK water block and (I love) gold backplate, EK tubing, Bitspower and Darkside fittigs, Darkside RGB lighting with handy remote control, WD Black Dual (120GB SSD+1TB mechanical) hard disk, Swiftech PWM fan controller, Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
