  • New matx X99 Build, Scylla

    I'm back!

Just snagged that gigabyte x99 board from Daz as I couldn't resist. Will be working a new build over the next several months as I get parts together. Not going to be Watercooling this time but I'll try and do something interesting

I want to do something compact but very powerful. Thinking about running with the fractal design node 804.

    Confirmed parts:

    Gigabyte X99M G1 Gaming motherboard
    Phanteks PH-TC12DX CPU Cooler
    Thermaltake Core V21 Matx Case
    I7 5930k
    Corsair lgx 4x4 quad channel DDR4 2666mhz
    MSI GTX 1080 TI FE
    EVGA G2 650w PSU
    M.2 128GB SSD
    Amd radeon r3 240GB ssd
Darkside RGB LED and advanced controller

Picked up the v21 from memory Express today and the nzxt grid. Needed a simple fan hub. Will have pics once my motherboard arrives.

Nice. You probably made the best decision going with Haswell CPU. The Broadwell didn't offer much more performance wise and you might have saved some headache. This goes with that saying "Big things come in small packages". Just think......If you ever feel you need more you have an upgrade path to THIS

if the price comes down lol

Hahaha the brilliance of the x99 platform. If 12 threads isn't enough you can spend the cost of your entire build and get 20 :p
I agree though, plus the thing was sealed in the box for half the cost after tax at new egg. I think in total this build has cost 1600 and the only thing not bnib was the motherboard. Deals abound haha

Damn, I'm up to 2K for my Ryzen build, that doesn't include a GPU or a PSU, since I already had those. DOH!

Just so happened that a few people on Craigslist had the exact parts I was looking to buy bnib for a lot less money, then I price matched my 1070 at memory Express and got it for 472 before tax.

Very cool man. A mATX x99 build not something you see every day.

Haha considering there are only 2 x99 mobos in existence as far as I know, evga, and this gigabyte board. I might be wrong on that, maybe Asus has one. I don't think matx is very popular for x99 though for sure.
