  • Arcade style fight stick build

So this isn't a PC, and it does not have watercooling... but it is a build! So i'm going with it.

This is a $30 kit from amazon.ca, as opposed to paying $90+ for a piece of plastic with the buttons and joystick so I'm building my own. I plan to finish the top in acrylic, maybe the sides too, and give it a nice paint job. Here is some progress I have been making with some free wood I got from work.

always wanted an arcade style joystick but could never justify the cost for one, cant wait to see the outcome of this. Will you give some review on the parts after you are done?

Thanks guys. Will give you a mini review right now after using it for about an hour. Everything works great, although the stick can't be reprogrammed so I had it in upside down the first time I plugged it in. I can't compare it to something you would buy pre-assembled, but do a decent job and it all fits tight. Its harder for me to use but i'm getting better. Inputs feel a lot faster than with controller. Also I just plugged it in and windows recognized it right away with no problems.
I used some really crappy wood, so I might just buy something and make a better case in the future. This works while I practice.

Thanks man, although I think in this case I am the noob, just lost all my rank when I switched to the stick so its back to basics.

Thanks Nass. Yeah the premium fight sticks are 300-500 ish and are what the pros use, and i didn't feel like dropping that kind of dough. If you pay less you usually get worse components and a smaller base, but imo the base needs to be quite large if you want to use it on your lap.
