  • HAF 912 Water Cooled

    Hello all,

Here are a couple of pics of my HAF 912 build. Just started water cooling this rig for Folding at Home purposes (plus a little overclocking of the video cards too).

HAF 912 wires: This pic shows my cable management - or lack there of! The TX650 (non modular) was replaced with an HX850 (semi modular) which cleaned up the inside greatly.

Water Blocks: This pic shows the EK GTX460 water blocks installed. Left side is the optional back plate installed. I also replaced the dual I/O plate with a single one from Daz. Installation was easier than I expected. The stock cooler was only attached with 4 screws plus one holding the I/O plate.

ah the mysteriously rare 460 blocks.
You're luck to have found two that actually fit your cards.

I know how you scaccima about non-modular PSU's; just replaced my Corsair TX750, with fully modular AX850...difference is night and day (as far as cable management goes)

I bought the blocks and back plates directly from EKWB. The blocks are made for my model 460, but my two 460's had a heat sink on the VRM's, which wasn't shown in the images on their website. I freaked out because I wasn't sure how the heat sinks where attached, but thankfully they were only applied using some sort of adhesive/thermal compound. They were a PITA to clean off! Thankfully I had some articlean thermal compound remover and purifier.

So true! The TX650 was originally in my HAF 932 rig before I upgraded to the HX850. Now I've upgraded again to the XFX 1050. The trusted HX850 will now power my HAF 912 rig. The modular design has already opened all kinds of space in the case compared to the TX650.

Here is an update on this build.

I've swapped psu's and removed the NZXT Sentry fan controller. It took up 2 drive bays and aside from the cool looking display, it never functioned the way I liked. As a controller I wouldn't recommend it because it isn't powerful enough to run any fan at 100%. If you're lucky you might get a fan to run around 70 - 80%. I'm now using a NZXT Sentry Mix. This is a 6 channel controller with 50 watts per channel - more than enough to run any fan at 100%.

HAF 912 stock: This pic shows what I started out with. This system was put together using spare parts from my 932 rig.

HAF 912 rad: This pic shows the rad in it's final position (eventually). I also removed the drive cage just behind the front mounted 200mm fan. Ordered a DDC pump and XSPC DDC res top from Daz. I previously ordered a D5 pump but I think it's to big for this case. I'll hang on to it for my 932 case. This pic also shows the video cards installed with the EKWB blocks. I also moved the HD up to one of the drive bays. I also moved up the fan controller and optical drive.

HAF 912-01: This pic shows the H60 installation prior to me flipping the rad 180 degrees (moving the tubes from the bottom to the top). Also got some "help" from by bottled friend - always good to have a helping hand!

Even with Admin controls; I could never get my photos from my PC to upload properly, so have used my photobucket account ever since...works like a charm

I ended up using the "basic uploader" instead and it worked. As for the bottled friend, I'm not to picky as long as it's ice cold.

                    Hello all again,

Here is a system update. Finally finished running my tubing and have started the leak testing. About 1 hour in and so far so good (knock on wood). My goal with this build was to tackle my first attempt at water cooling. Since my case has no window, I decided to stick with barb fittings with black hose clamps. Not the prettiest, but it won't be seen. Since the rad is mounted outside the case I decided to use compression fittings for it. When I water cool my 932 I will definately functional while looking good at the same time.

I forgot to mention that I'm really happy with the DDC-3.25TPMP pump from dazmode.com. It's much quieter than I expected it to be. A lot of the air has been bled from the system now and it's super quiet. Not sure if the hard foam under it has anything to do with it!

I also want to say thanks to all the Dazmode members. With all your build postings and help I've had a great time doing this. My 4-year old son has also had some fun too! Every morning he asks, "Are going to work on the computer today?" I also want to say a special thanks to Daz for his awesome videos and for allowing us Canadians to have a Canadian source for this hobby!

As requested, here is how I mounted the rad. It's a 120mm radiator holder from Bitspower. They also make the same holder in 140mm.
