  • Amazon.ca price for CPU-400A... $350 but free shipping...

leaning towards heatkiller IV since it will match the GPU and cost significantly less than sourcing the CPU-400A from across the border. Any reason not to use that block?

I'm out of touch on the newer RGB strips that MSI/Asus etc have all pushed sine it wasn't supported by my hardware what do I need to look into for compatibility with this board?

    • Well the CH4-Ex is out and the CH7-Hero is in
Heatkiller Pro IV mounted to the 2700x
      Heatkiller IV on the 1080ti
      Pheobus stayed in
the 2x 500GB WD Black NVMe drives are more than enough especially with NMS on my network so I kept them out of raid format and pulled all the sata SSD/Plater drives. I decided to keep the sata cables etc in place so that I can use the front hot swap bays as needed.
the 18x NF-F12 fans are being controlled properly on the radiators by the motherboard only instead of trying to use the corsair link so it's gone.

Wiring is a bit more simple I needed to gid out the cables to run an extra 4 pin CPU line but the CH4-EX had two AUX molex plugs that I had hooked up especially for when I was using the dual 6990's unlocked.

      • The bend coming from the bottom to the CPU I had to re-do from scratch the old one wasn't quite right the positing of the CPU socket is slightly different
Going from the GPU back into the bottom I just needed to trim. The top slot on the CH7 is actually a slot lower than on the CH4-EX
and I tried multiple times to get the piece from the CPU to the GPU in one piece but I just couldn't get it to bend the way i wanted without the extra elbow.

A led strip or two and I'd be quite happy.

I also need to find a 2x external to 1xUSB3 internal converter, so my front ports will actually run at full speed. I installed the conversion kit years ago in the 800D but the CH4-EX didn't have the USB3 internal header to have ever bothered getting the adapter.

Max GPU temp between FurMark, Catzilla, Timespy + Extreme never broke 48'c and fans never bothered to spin up on the radiators so i'm still in quiet mode.
