  • Hush - quiet gaming by DoGMaN

Almost all my parts have arrived now. Still waiting on the R4. It is in Canada at least and should be here in the next 3-4 business days. My rads are waiting patiently for me at the post office, I'll pick them up before I head home today. I started sleeving the cables on my HCP-1000 last night. I bought a crimping tool and pins so I can make the cables custom length where needed. I also picked up a few hundred meters of 16 and 18 gauge stranded copper air free wire for the same purpose. The Cougar 140mm HDB fans were waiting for me when I got home from work yesterday. They are amazingly quiet. I just hope they have enough static pressure.

I ran a sim with MML's flow rate simulator and it looks like my pump should handle the build. It is nice that the XSPC blocks are fairly free flowing.

    Quick parts list:
    • Intel i7 3770
    • Gigabyte G1.Sniper M3
    • Crucial DDR1600 16GB
    • Fractal Designs Define R4
    • XSPC Raystorm (Intel)
    • XSPC Razer GTX 680 Rev2
    • Gigabyte GTX670OC Windforce
    • Couple SSDs
    • Dazmode Storm DDC 3.25 with XSPC res top
    • XSPC RX240
    • EKWB Coolstream XTC280
    • Scythe GT AP-15 x2
    • Cougar CF-V14HB Vortex 140MM HDB x2
    • Antec HCP-1000 Platinum single wire sleeved Black with green accents
    • 1/2ID x 3/4OD Black tubing and Bitspower "Black Sparke" compression fittings

I'll post some pics when I get home from work.

Haven't had 5 minutes to do anything in the past couple days. Should have a few free mins after work today before I start tearing the system down.

Finished breaking down my old cube case (The Judge) and mocked up my new loop. I don't have the case yet so I'm just playing with the positions.

    Some parts photos

    My favorite tools

I've made a couple design changes. I'm no longer going to use white on the motherboard tray. I've purchased some "acid green" acrylic sheet and I'll be cutting it to fit behind the motherboard. It will be backlit with white LEDs to give a green glow from behind the board.

Second rad installed and all plumbed up

I'm not really liking the black tubing thus far. I may just being too fussy. I'm considering adding a little more green tubing as well. Let me know you think.

      Update 2

Had some free time today so I did as much as I could. Sleeved the other PCI-E cable except for the green. Did a little cable management and reorganization. Found a spot to mount the pump that could live with. Replumbed all the tubing adding in a little more green as well as making the runs a little more artful. Let me know what you think.

great stuff, love the name you've chosen. so much better than all the super tough guy power names dudes come up with.

how's sleeving that Antec? are you being forced to create alot of custom wires?
I've got an 1000W Antec TPQ sitting in my closet,
but most of the native wires have capacitors that are not so conducive to sleeve.

It's one of the easiest I've done. I hit a bump in the road today when I snapped my pin extractor. So I've ordered 2 more. I'm sure I'll end up with more than a few custom cables. Already my PCI-E has been modified to get rid of one set of plugs. If you decide to make your own make sure you buy a good crimper. It makes life much easier. I won't know how many I'll need to make until my case arrives.

Pictures added! The new loop is much quieter than the old. These Cougar fans are amazing. Super quiet and move a substantial amount of air. Now the pump is the loudest thing in the loop.

                    Thats some nice looking parts.
Where did you get the Cougar fans?
Would like to see the specs on these as I've never seen them before.

If that DDC is the loudest thing you have, then thats one quiet rig your building.

The DDC is by far the loudest part at the moment. I don't have it on a decoupler yet so it is vibrating a little. These are the fans I bought Cougar CF-V14HB Vortex HDB 140MM I wasn't fond of the orange blades so I got the black ones.
