  • Sliger CL520 Server Project

I have been looking forward to building a half serious  server for a couple years and finally got comfortable enough with Centos/RHEL8 to get my parts and start building.

parts list, some recycled from previous builds:
    Asrock Rack-X570D4I-2T
    Ryzen-5800X
    Fractal-SFX650G
    Kingston 32GB ECC SODIMM
    IS-47K low profile cooler
    splitty9 adapter
    x5 SilverStone 60mm PMW fans
    Sliger Console case
    TBD thin exhaust fan 25mm
    TBD CMR HDDs
TBD x4 NVME 4.0 short PCB burification board

No need for a GPU with the IPMI and onboard graphics. I am planning to use the single PCIE slot for a nvme expansion card for flash storage to max out the 2x 10gbe lan when I find one that fits.

This particular board runs hot and the IS-47K is not exactly capable of cooling the 5800X so I have put some thought into getting enough fans against the board to assist with the air flow.

Put some time into making the cables the right length to avoid using space.

Lent out a 5800x I’m waiting to get back and for the fans and cooler to arrive. Getting the fans in will take a bit of work around the HDD cage as well.
