  • 011 XL build - System 01

I'll be moving my PC into a Lian Li 011 Evo sometime in the next month, and I've picked up some fans from EK for the build. Normally I wouldn't ever spend a lot of money on fans, the cheap ones are nearly as good as ones 10x the price, however after finding the phanteks 30mm fans I was interested in some thicc boys, and EK luckily had these on sale for about $15usd each. these are a bit thick at 38mm each, but they perform really well at low RPM and they also have 'extended range' mode, so they will go completely off at 20-25% pwm. Combined with my incoming temp sensors I hope to run the fan curve off of the liquid temp and have the fans go off during idle.
these fans have a huge hub in the center so pull config will work best, or using a shroud. there is a lot of room in the 011 evo so I hope I can fit all 10 of these fans and maybe even a shroud on the ones that will probably be pushing air out of the case through one of the 3 rads.

Hey Necro, great looking fans. This should be an interesting build. Love the look of slow spinning fans blades. Standing by!

      Thanks wattermain.

I've changed some things around, the Lian Li 011 evo was just not quite big enough for everything I wanted, got tired of waiting for the evo XL and just got the old XL in silver with tinted glass.
Then I managed to get a motherboard I've wanted since it came out, the Asus z690 hero Evangelion edition, for a decent price on ebay. so now its not just a case swap I've got a 13900kf and 64gb of ram as well. recently got an order from Daz, here are some pics of the cables I'm working on. I sleeved the sata cables coming from the HDD bays as well as some RGB strips. Still deciding on layout of colours for power cables.

I'll be making some video build logs as well.

Doing a little bit of work most days. Decided that I wanted to use my 3d printer to make this build something special, and I've come up with.... some hands! but not just any hands, giant robot hands... but printed in scale so they are like little kid hands.
they mount to the back of the res and to the front of the side radiator mounts. printed them hollow but I think they should be plenty strong enough, also painted and polishing the dual pump top.
also delidded my 13900kf and installed the direct die bloc with liquid metal. just have to make a quick loop with soft tube to test.

            Thanks Hooded!
Just a couple pics of where I've gotten so far. Its really weird but every time I've been making my own new gaming PC I always end up moving in the middle of it. this is like the 4th time.
so anyways I'll be packing this beast up and finishing it at the new place, so probably a couple months from being done. the 13900k won't even be current anymore! lol.

Just plugging away at this build, but unfortunately I was sent 90's instead of 45's TWICE now. waiting on the next shipment so I can finish my plan for doing all the runs, and after thats its just drain old system to get the GPU, and then the GPU needs a repaste and I've got a new backplate. may be annoying because its got a thin metal cover over the screws used to take the block apart thats easy to ruin, although it is an EK block. I also want to add a little bit more with some custom 3d prints still but that can be done after its working.

love these custom cables I got off etsy. you almost never see the back so I usually use extensions but custom cables are much better.

                  Thanks Daz!
Just got everything ready for tubing this morning. Going to start cutting and bending soon but here are a few shots.
I 3d printed some 40mm fan mounts for my SSD's, and the EK backplate is slightly longer than the liquid devil's stock one, so I printed an end cap that also holds the GPU power cables out of the way.

Got the PC done about a week ago, just having fun setting up the fan curves and playing games. 13900kf manages to spike to 78C sometimes but only when opening a program, in game sits at 30-50C. GPU temps are even better, about 45C and then 60-65C on hotspot. the water gets to about 36C with current fan curves, it was getting to over 40C before I set them up which I thought was a bit hot. the hottest part of the PC is actually the PCH or southbridge chip on the motherboard which gets to 65C. I undervolted it and upped my fan speed on the SSD fan, which I'm probably going to move to the PCH since those drives don't get much use and are running at 32C. Samsung 990 pro SSD gets to about 50 when gaming, was getting to 60+ before I got the little fans working.
flow meter appears in the bios but just says 1LPM, don't know if its accurate or how to access the reading in windows. I was able to put both temp sensors on my aida64 sensor panel, and the ram block has a pretty accurate readout as well.
Planning on moving the 2nd temp sensor which is in the res to between the components and radiators, just ran out of m/m rotary fittings. also I found an almost identical block thats black with metal accents so i plan on switching the tops. this block has .03mm fins and the other one is apparently .05, don't know how much difference that would actually make, I figure its more of a flow thing and these 2 pumps are doing great.
computer idles at 25-26C liquid temps, fans all 500-600rpm and pumps at 1300. The meltemi fans do go off it liquid gets below 24 but doesn't seem to happen after it warms up. top fan I plugged into the cpu fan header and won't go below 25% pwm, and the rear fan which should technically go off below 5% pwm does not. the only annoying thing is one of the top fans makes a warbly noise, they are used fans. I shouldn't have cheaped out. so need to find some good 4pin fans to replace 3 or 4 of the EKs. I don't think the rear fan is making a noise so I'll probably keep it.

I'm really liking how the tubes ended up, crossing over each other. always keep your old bent tubes, I think 2 of these I did years ago but I did about 10 bend attempts. its very hard to get a visually perfect bend, and at least 2 of these are not exactly perfect but close enough.

would be nice if there was a bit more light near the pump area. Currently running everything in a blueish purple, but it can do a lot of rainbow. like too much rainbow.

the case doesn't sync with the header, I guess the case is meant to control strips and not be controlled. the only purple is very magenta, and green didn't look great. went with this rain animation thats red. I do also have 3 red 7 segment displays I meant to 3d print a mount for and attach to the 12/5/3v lines but not sure where to put them.

Thanks Hooded. waiting on a few parts to adjust some things. I already have a black cpu block of the same style, and I have to choose replacements for the top 3 fans because one has some bearing noise. also finally played around with asus' dumb software to adjust the lights.
