  • Best tools for fan crimping?

    First post here!

I am looking to sleeve fans, although I have some server grade fans with non-standard headers.

Anyways, I'm wondering what are the best tools to:
    1. Strip the server fan of its existing header?
    2. Uncrimp the fans (should I just cut it off and strip the wire of the fan)?
    3. Then to crimp a new set of 4 pin fan headers.

I've been looking around and the tools I think I need are:

    Crimper and wire stripper:

Is this crimper easy to use or are there better ones out there?

    Fan removal tool:

    Is this everything I need?

    Thanks in advance.

I'd rather get 2 separate tools:

I agree with Daz. Get the right tools.

Multi-tools are nice for some things. But for wiring, I like a quality stripper and crimper. If you plan on doing lots of wiring, nothing can substitute a good set of stripping pliers.

As far as removing wires from fan plugs goes, forget about the fancy tool, a plastic head thumb tack works perfect. You only remove one wire at a time, but it is simple and tacks are everywhere. Fan header plugs are the easiest to work with.

The Engineer crimpers that Daz sells are the very best out there, end of story.
