Looking to pull the plug on my last few parts in the next two weeks (SMA8, X4 Res, Lighting).

Looking at the darkside RGB LEDs and wondering how many strips, what lengths and placement to get good lighting. Caselabs shows 26" depth and 17.44" height for the area I'm lighting.

this is an easy one. Snef??

lol... I'm gunna say 4 x 12" max. Prolly even just two will get by.
the Darkside LED are super bright on full strength...
you should plan for a dimmer switch too.

Yeah if you want even lighting go with one on each side facing towards your build and get something to dim them with. One will light up a case on its own but you get shadows and the lighting is really bright where the strip is located. OK for adding colour but if you want to really see your build you could get away with 2x, but you will always have shadows if there is anything blocking the light from that side.

Daz, what would you recommend for 4x12" RGB with a dimmer?

How direct are the Darkside LEDs? I see cablemods has a wide pattern beam.

I think RGB are at least 90 degree beam.

Do you think a 19" on the top and a 12" on the side would be sufficient?

for an SMA8 you need 2 x 19" and 2 x 12" for best lightning in this case

on top, I installed a 19" behind top Radiator (closed to MB tray), this will give you a nice glow on top of motherboard

on front and back, 2 x 12" closed to the side panel, and a 19" on bottom, same location as front and back

look at my Bloody Angel build logs, this will give you an idea

I knew Snef had a build somewhere with these specs.

...if only there was a single repository for references.
