  • XSPC LEDs + external power supply = no worky?

Dumb question from the electrically illiterate: my XSPC LEDs never work when plugged into an external power supply, but work off a normal one. I know there's a reason. What is it?

Do you use 5Amp adapter from DazMode store?

Nope, and I was JUST about to update my question with 5v vs 12v. I assume the external P.S. only puts out 12v and needs to have the voltage throttled down for 5v LEDs?

Some parts need 12v, other parst need only 5V, and finally some parts use both 12 and 5. Thsi si why you have 2 pairs of wires on MOLEX connector - one for 12v and other for 5v.

That's what tipped me off. I'm just glad I didn't fry the LEDs! Do you sell an adapter that throttles the current down? I was poking around the store but didn't see any. I bought your "bigger" external power supply. Looks like I should have got the cheaper one!

2amp external PS @ DazMode store power up everything correctly as it has both voltages. It just not as good for powerful stuff... I use it to test things like standard fun controlelrs.

Another thing to add to my next order then. I really need to learn how to wire up my own LEDs, and just buy 200 of em from eBay! Getting REALLY sick of molex connectors! I need a good noob tutorial on those things. Thanks for the info guys!

DO TELL!! Also, DO get some of those thick EK XTX 360 rads back in stock. My M8 arrives tomorrow, and I'd MUCH rather get my rads from you than anywhere else. But the stock on the thick ones is all out.

                          Hey Bart,

I highly recommend this (if you don't already have it): http://www.dazmode.com/store/product..._switch_black/

Comes in handy when testing LED's, fans or anything else.

That was in my first water cooling order from Daz. Along with the external PS.

Did you mean something about LEDs and not using molex connectors? What is this magical thing of which you speak!?!?!
