  • Cleaning plasticizer residue from fittings?

I have some plasticizer issues with my current Primochill tubing (old version, not the advanced LRT). Obviously I'll be wanting to clean the white powder residue off the fittings when I migrate my loop into a new case. How should I properly clean the fittings? I have a mix of XSPC and Bitspower compression fittings. Is it safe to soak them in a distilled vinegar mix? Will that ruin the O-rings?

Maybe remove the o-rings from the fittings before giving them a distelled vinegar bath and a toothbrush scrub . I will soon find out how hard for this stuff to remove since I already have tubings that have plasticized just within a month or so hehe...Hopefully it's not as bad as the hydrx junk

Won't bother the o-rings at all unless you boil them,go 50-50 with your mix as the vinegar is already a 5 % solution. Also please go overboard with the rinsing after.

If I had a pipe cleaner, I'd probably just do them in distilled water, but I have no such thing. Thanks for the input dudes!

fittings are pretty solid peices. Unless there's some sort of crazy corrosion going on, the plasticizer should wash out with a little soap.

Considering the goop that was in my loop, not one fitting was injured...

Did you use ordinary dish soap?

I'm not sure that acid is the best treatment for fitting's plating. How is about some toothbrush?

You know better than most! If you're worried about acid, I'M worried about acid!! I might need a small brush or something though, as a normal toothbrush might not fit in a 3/8 5/8 angled fitting. I think I'll find something in Home Depot or the Dollar Store tomorrow. No hurry on the cleaning anyway since I haven't decided how to lay out the tubing yet. There are some very tight spots in the M8, so running tube is not going to be easy.

*cringe* dishsoap and toothbrush is best like the guys are saying.
This is how I cleaned my 6970 block and recycled tubing for my itx build.

You really do not want to use corrosive products near any of your blocks and if you can swap tubing asap.
