  • RBG LED lights, how hot are they?

Guys does anybody have RBG LED lights? How hot do they run?

I got a strip and it seems significantly hotter than single color LED strips such as DArkSide.

Depends how its constructed i guess each colour led requires different amounts of resistance

They will generally run hotter especially if all three color elements are sealed in the same "dome" or LED plastic unit. This is why there have been very few RGB back-lit monitor panels because they create much more heat and require a fan to manage it.

I haven't noticed any heat at all coming from my led's. I'm currently using 5ft of 5050sdm rbg strip led's. The 60w power supply gets a little warm but not the leds.

Yes, it was a defective strip after all. I have the same 5050 leds, but they rated at 6v instead of 12v
