Am paring down my Canon bodies to make room for some new arrivals.

SOLD 7D with 2200 shutter count and like new condition---$700 with manual, 32gb CF card.SOLD

60D with approx. 11,000 shutter count, excellent condition---$550 with manual and 16gb SD card.

40D with approx. 5500 shutter count in mint condition---$270 with manual and 16gb CF card.

And a Sony NEX 5N with 18-55 lens with image stabilization and hood---$270

All include 2 batteries, charger and includes the shipping in Canada. US add 10 bucks on top for the extra charges.

Going to the Darkside, will end up with a Nikon or a Sony 36mp A7R. Canon is great and will be keeping 2-3 of them, but am looking for the exact fit for my needs. Nikon has 3 models that appeal to me personally. D600, 610 and the 800, am not interested in the 700 or new 750 models. Next 2 weeks will tell.

What is the best camera between the Sony NEX 5N and the 40D?

I have never owned a camera like that before so I'm totally a newbie.

5N has better quality pictures and is more versatile, does great video and has a tilt screen with touch control. Not an awful lot of lenses available but can be adapted to work with other types as well. The 40D has only a 10mp sensor but takes great pictures in the right hands, it is a magnesium body camera with some weather sealing on some of the entry points. Canon has literally about 200 lenses that will work with this camera and it does a great job of sports shooting as it has a frame rate of 6.5 frames per second. Rock solid camera that can take a lot of abuse if you are out in the field, Sony, not so much as is a tiny little thing and is obviously a lot more delicate. A good site to see some honest reviews is "dpreview", they are very well respected and test nearly everything. That being said if you are just starting out I would go for the Sony because it is much easier to get good pictures out of with the friendly interface and better 16mp sensor. Sony makes the best sensors in the industry and that is fact ! Got a little long-winded there, sorry.

Picked up a Nikon D610 today, will be a whole new learning curve all over. Not that I learned anything about Canon that is. Nikon has a Sony Exmor sensor in it, but only the 24.3 mp version. I'm sure it is way more than I know what to do with.
