  • Core i7 3930k overlocking

    Core i7 3930k owners:

I'm just wondering how much you got out of yours, and what you are using setting wise?

I've tried overclocking other cpus before, and typically using the bclk over 105 has never been stable.

But right now i'm getting some crazy numbers. I'll be pushing the blck even further as well as the cpu multiplier and lowering the cpu voltage. Goal is 5ghz.

as soon as I touch my bclk It's pretty much a no boot for me, beyond that though multi wise mine does 4.9 at 1.45V isn't impressive by any means but eh what can you do. This time of the year though I've just been running mine at 4 with 1.2V to try and keep the heat down, this chip and dual 7950's it gets toasty.

I've got the same problem, I topped out at 4.7 because any bclk modification sends me into a power cycle.

Edit: Just made an interesting discovery. I can't change my bclk in the bios, it's a static value, I can only change it in windows. There's something seriously wrong with this board.

What were you trying? 47 x 100? There's probably a bios option to unlock the blck. What board is this?

MSI Big Bang Xpower II, and yes, it was running 47 x 100. Manual says it's not supposed to be a static value, doesn't say anything about unlocking it.

                          so now think about this.

In 1983, I found a program for my Commodore64 that would calculate the length of time it would take to calculate a mere 1M iterations of Pi on the C64
