  • What are your CPU temps?

    Hello all,

I was wondering what temps all of you are getting for your CPU's. I'm currently using a Corsair H70 (double thick 120 rad with 2 fans in push/pull) and under full load I'm averaging 50 degrees C. My CPU is an Intel Core i7 870 (1156 socket).

Now that I finished water cooling my video cards, I plan to ditch the H70 and add my CPU to my loop. Currently I'm using an EX360 rad and a Dazmode D5 Vario pump to water cool my video cards. I plan to add an additional EX360 - maybe overkill, but cooler is better!

    Thanks!

Forgot to mention my CPU stock speed is 2.93GHz, but it's running at 3.2GHz right now. I'm going to set it at 4.0GHz to see what kind of temps I get.

When I rebuilt my loop with the new radiator the 1100T overclocked to 4Ghz had temperature readings of the following.
My idle temperatures were consistantly 4'c over ambient.
Using Prime 95 to fully load the CPU it peaked at 14'c over ambient.

I'm running an AMD Phenom II 965BE @ 4.3GHz; (sitting idle) motherboard temp is @ 35 degrees Celsius, and CPU is @ 39 degrees Celsius...must be because my ambient temps are hovering around 27 degrees.

While these aren't the best they could be (for a CPU only loop); I'll take little higher temps, over high fan noise anytime

My CPU cores within 40-45c under normal use. Mild overclock of i7 1366 to 3.5ghz.

Wow! 24 degrees under load? That's nice!

HWMonitor and Bulldozer temp readouts are way off.
In reality my FX-8150 @ 4.4ghz is closer to drive temps on idle.
Runs between 40-42 on heavy load (when encoding video files.)
Really haven't seen it go any higher. Probably because i went way overkill with my radiators.
              Running two Swifty MCR320s and a ES120 in push/pull.

And in case you are wondering ...no it isn't silent at all. hahaha.

I don't think it's that HWMonitor and Bulldozer temps that are way off; I think that it's more likely that ASUS sensors are much different than what's being read by HWMonitor (or any 3rd party software for that matter ), as I see that Core Temp reads that my CPU is @ 36 degrees, when in actuality that is the temp of the motherboard...CPU is more around the 40 degree mark.

I read an article from a designer at AMD that says the sensors are accurate only for higher temperatures ranges.

Unless there's some major evaporation going on, there is no way my computer is below ambient. I attribute my low temps to having alot of radiators atm (A 360 and 240 cooling 1 CPU). Temps will go up when my videocards get cooled.

With my CPU load temps being around 50 degrees (using the H70) and my video card load temps also being around 50 degrees (using an EX360 rad) I wonder what difference (if any) it would make when I replace the H70 with another EX360 (2 EX360's cooling the CPU and 2 GPU's).

My ambient room temp (in the basement) is between 17 and 20 degrees C depending if the A/C is running.

I agree with Grey. I remember reading a similar article.
But yes , Brechan you are correct i was a little sleepy when i posted this last night hehe.
@Scaccima , not much of a difference. I went full out with my radiators because i hate seeing temps over 40.
I pay the price with noise. Though my Cooler Master R4's are all controlled by Lamptron Fan-atic so i can turn them down or off when i'm idle.

Action shots of my new setup attached. (temporary)

I had an h80 before I did this watercooling. Its a totally different animal. I'm currently running 1xRX360 and 1xRX240... so 2 EX360 should be similar. I can't say what the final temps are cause I still have two video cards to cool.

My CPU temps vary, they change with the ambient temp and humidity. The system has a Tec chiller with two 400 watt Qmax tec`s and a controller that can limit temps to the dew point of the ambient air. 50% humidity and 20 degrees temp will limit Cpu to about 9 degrees before condensation starts to form, hence the controller which is adjustable. Any temps lower than that will necessitate heavy insulation around processor and back of mobo in cpu area. My typical temps are 16-18C idle and the same for heavy use, but my power consumption goes way up do to the Tec`s thirst for current at higher loads. Draws up to 380 watts full load from 2-6 pin pci plugs. Monsta 420 rad in push-pull with 6 R4 fans cool the hot side of TEC.

I am currently at 3.4ghz. I'll be overclocking in a bit once my loop is totally finished.
