  • Red Rebel (CaseLabs SM8)

This one is more a case/motherboard switch than a full blown build log so it will be way quicker too!

It's a case downsizing of my Hurrikaine build. Since I recently dismantled my White Asylum build I had my White SM8 that was available. Since 4 x 360 was a bit on the overkill side and that I really can't stand to have Alphacool radiators, The downsizing from the S8 to the SM8 was logical. I will be able to have 2 x 360 and 1 x 240. All Darkside radiators!! I will also re-use my Bitfenix Spectre Pro that I had in the White Asylum. One last thing, I was on a dual PSU setup in the Hurrikaine but I will only use my 1200w. It should be good.

I keep the color scheme of the Hurrikaine, but the purple is being replaced by some red. So it's white and dark gray with red accents. All radiators will be painted white.

For the name, i'm still in the same Star Wars universe as Hurrikaine was so it will be : Red Rebel

As always, I hope you’ll like it so here we go!

Subbed early, for once! I hear ya on those Alphacools. They perform like blazes, but the Monstas are so big I'm not sure the performance is worth the pain of them being 88mm thick!

                Hello everyone!

The old loop clean-up is done! So now the build can begin!

                Here's the first 2 pictures.

The components and the case. As you can see I did go reverse ATX this time instead of the previous build in the SM8 which was in regular orientation.

The motherboard in the case is my upcoming X99 it was just there in the case because I used the motherboard tray as a bench when I tested the X99 board.

Today I will start put things in the case and I will take pictures of the progress tonight!

                Cheers!
                Luc

Some are 112mm thick, don't forget the original 420. LOL

                          Hi,

Sorry for the delay of update I didn't feel well this weekend so everything was slowed for me.

So far I installed the motherboard block on the MVIE then installed put everything in the case!

Today I figure how the loop will go so you can see the fittings in place but no tubing so far.

                          Here's a few pictures.

The motherboard right out of the box

The motherboard with the waterblock installed and some sticker cleanup

                          EK blocks in place

The actual state of the build

Next update will be for the loop installation and maybe the sleeving.

                          Take care everyone!
