Thanks guys. Man this 7700k runs hot! I can get it stable at 4.8 at a decent voltage 1.29 but it still hits 90+ and throttles down.

I kinda have an itch to delid it and redo its tim

wow 90c at 1.29v, seem to me really high, specially unde water with a good block like yours

I have mine a t 5.00 at 1.31 and I never go over 75c under water (Maximus IX Extreme block)
but I think to delid mine to, let us know if you do it and what result you have

Ya I did reseat the block once, redid its tim. I did read about issues with kalbys tim. I dont really want to send it back because it seems to over clock great just those dam temps

                      My kabylake runs hot too.

The AVX workload really burns it though. You may be able to get to 5ghz if you set an avx offset of 2 or so. That will make avx (like Prime95) run at 4.8 while every other workload will run at 5. With an avx offset of 2 and 420 + 240 rads I don't break 75C. I don't think you need that much raddage, but the avx offset will really help.

A delid is probably very necessary for this proc, I've seen reports of 20-30C drops which would bring it down to around 50C which I'd be fine with.

                          Well I delidded it.

                          I went from over

                          90C at 4.8 Ghz at 1.29
                          to
                          60C at 5.0 at 1.3 V

Only problem is I think I nicked something cleaning off the old silicon. Dimms 3+4 no longer work only have access to single channel memory. Thought I cooked it but I pulled it out checked pins and reset.

                          See how long it lasts

Why I will never delid a CPU. not worth the risk IMO
