  • Comment on DD and computers

well for awhile now have been trying to get DD working from computer to the receiver. To make connections simple use just hdmi for all my connections. Rogers box, computer, blueray player - receiver. Blueray and rogers box work np, computer no until I used a digital optical cable, now she finally works properly. In case anyone is having the same issues.

Hardware involved is an Onkyo receiver and newest z97 motherboard, also try z87 previously. Receiver controls all the switching of the sources.

Can't you use a fiber optic cable or a digital coaxial cable from your audio out puts on back to receiver?
I have this working with HDMI to TV and a AC3 fiber optical TV to receiver. Also have a second comp hook up using a HDMI cable to TV and a Coaxial from comp to amp.
These setups allow for DD or 7in1 audio setups

Ya believe is a fiber optical, this digital optical cable fits the lighted square audio connection on back of my board.. Coaxial I don't have from my motherboard, just optical and 3.5 . Think is also called toslink if am not mistakin.

I ran a HDMI and it worked fine, if this isn't an option you can use the optics cable. yes it may be called toslink. on optics cable you may be limited to 5.1 though

Ya have both options but hdmi doesn't seem to work. Reciever and speakers are only 5.1 so that's fine.
