  • Incredible DUMB question about EK bridge terminal for dual GPU setup

This is embarrassing to ask, but I need schooling. I have a single GTX980 with an EK block, and am considering picking up a second, because my GPU looks lonely in there by itself. On my Rampage IV Gene, I would need a 3 slot bridge terminal to connect the cards. The dumb question is: does this piece replace the regular in/out piece on the GPUs? Pretty sure the answer is yes.

Also, do you need to remove the back plate to swap out that piece and replace it with the terminal piece? My back plate can't be removed due to a cross-threaded screw, not without damaging the back plate.

    Thanks in advance!

Yes this piece will replace the current in/out ports (single terminal) with the new one. Save the bolts they are re-used.
You won't need to remove the backplate on your current card to achieve this update.

I ordered a dual bridge, but a 3 slot one, since I have a PCIE x1 slot between my 16x slots. My wording was pretty bad, thanks to staying up late to watch my Flames lose last night! Thanks for looking out Luc!

Bart, if this is the board your planning to use this with

            Asus Rampage IV Gene
Then you'll need only the two slot dual terminal.

Uh oh. That's my board. Knowing Daz, the order is in the mail already. DOH! I thought the two slot terminal would be for cards in the bottom 2 slots, no?

I don't see a terminal made to work with two slots side by side.

                      Isn't just double version?

All measurements are provided in description, so take ruler and figure that out!

It took the kindness of Hooded to let me know I screwed up!! Damn it, I wish I was NOT at work right now! Gotta find the slot spacing for the board. Work makes this hard since I can't hit a LOT of sites (stupid police web filters)!

                            Nice one Bart.
I have similar issue, in too much pain to go and take measurements, so if you don't make mind me hijacking your thread, then I'd ask the same question.

My board is Gigabyte Z97X-G1 Gaming WIFI BK and I have the cards in the 1st and 3rd slot which are separated by 2 PCIE x4, and 1 full PCIEx16 slot. Does this mean I need a tripple slot bridge?
