  • Can't close Darkside Ball Shutoff Mini-valve

I picked up an order yesterday which included two of the Darkside Ball Shutoff Mini-Valve's. I won't be building for another few days but had time to look through the parts and make sure they look fine. I tested out the ball shutoff mini valves but I could not get them to close. It seems unlikely that two identical parts would have the same problem so I figure i'm doing something wrong.

I've used slightly more than what I think would be a reasonable amount of force(Definitely more than I would be comfortable with if the lines were connected and filled). I've tried lifting the knob prior to turning it. There's not a lot else I can think of doing other than a return.

It does take a fair bit of force to open mine, but it opens. Don't think my Bitspower ones are much easier though.

They pretty stiff especially at first. Rotate them few times to loosen up.

It is pure friction, so there is no lifting or pushing handle up and down.

Thanks for the quick response. I'll give it some more force when I finish work tonight and see if I can get it closed.

I have found valves, quick disconnect and similar fittings are quite often a bit easier to manipulate when wet instead of completely dry.

Thats a great tip Izerous. I'll try submersing them in a bowl of water while turning them.

It sure can, because I test them all before I ship.

Got them closed. Thanks all. They're still pretty tight but I suppose thats a hell of a lot better than too loose.
