  • EVGA 1080Ti SC Black Edition and FC EKWB Compatibility issue - 1 mouting stud missing

Hey can anyone confirm installing the newer FC EK Block (model 1960 / 1984..for 1080Ti ) on an Evga 1080Ti SC Black Edition ???? Although ALL reference states compatible there is NO anchoring / threaded stud at the top of the Card next to the input / output water ports....this stud is present on Pascal X Block BUT not on 1080Ti Reference Blocks....yet the Compatibility list shows the SC Black Edition as Compatible Reference...

Has anyone tried this particular Card with the 1960 / 1984 Blocks and if there were any issues not having this last screw securing the block ?? It looks as though it ensures the PCB makes contact with the RAM chips.

Please let me know.....EK....you may want to remove the 6393 KR model from your compatibility list for the 1960 / 1984 Model Block (newer Terminal look).

Please advise if this has been tried without the one screw in place?

Here are links to the EK Site which shows images of the Blocks:

These are the Block that I have: 3831109831960
Both claim to be for 1080Ti Reference and Pascal X, have a close look at the Waterblock (underside) and note NO threaded mounting stud under the left side H2O Port ....

    https://www.ekwb.com/shop/ek-fc-geforce-gtx-fe-acetal

Then look at these "older" Water Blocks (no new look Terminal Block cover)
ALSO for Reference 1080Ti AND for Pascal X Model 3831109831694

    https://www.ekwb.com/shop/ek-fc-tita...-acetal-nickel

Have a close look at the underside of these GPU Blocks and note that there IS a threaded mounting stud at the top directly under the left side H2O input/output port.

How can one block have the stud and the other not if there both for the same Card?

Anyhow....I have the Cards put together with the blocks but obviously both Cards are missing the one securing screw ....bummer...I have ordered another set of Blocks as I know the Water Cooling parts game...no one take responsibility for ensuring compatibility....

Im just reluctant to put in my box...fill with liquid as risk over heating my VRAM...any suggestions ....this is an odd one....Im always "positive" i get the right gear!

      Sorry try this....

Here is the FC EKWB that is the newest (new style Terminal Block connection) specifically for Reference 1080Ti and Titan X Pascal .....from what I see it does NOT have the required threaded stud up near the in/out Water ports....so no it wont work with most Cards (unless like me you simply dont place a securing screw through the PCB at this location .....but is that ok?

      https://www.ekwb.com/shop/ek-fc-geforce-gtx-fe-acetal

And here is the older FC EKWB (old style Terminal Block) also compatible with Titan X Pascal / xp and 1080Ti Reference....notice it HAS the Threaded Stud required up near the water in/out port.......

      https://www.ekwb.com/shop/ek-fc-tita...-acetal-nickel

I dont get it....why no threaded stud on the newer block that it is specifically for the 1080Ti....all the 1080Ti's have this screw location on the PCB...yes even the Founders Edition.....is this an error on EK...?

Can i still use the block with the missing securing screw installed?

Really hoping Daz can chime in here as I purchased direct from him not from EK...the models numbers missing the additional threaded securing stud near the top (below left side water port) are :
Model 9831984, : 9831960, 9831977.@ 9831953.....is there just no need to secure that part of the Board anymore...or a "design flaw" on EK's part?

It looks like they move the terminal a little bit to the right, so they can't add the screw because it would block the water path.
