  • G2 LED strip - running off mobo fan header?

I keep changing my mind on weather or not this is possible, but I would like to run this strip (x3-4) off of one of my otherwise completely unused mobo fan headers. Most info online says no, but I think they are referring to 5050 strips. anyways, the header is rated at 1A and 12W. The G2 strips are 2.5W at 6-12V. (which is .4-.2 amps per strip?)

So if my fan header has voltage control would the darkside strip work? (ie the pinouts are the same for fan and the G2's power?)

Maybe I should use 2 different headers if they are drawing .4A. or the water pump header might be an alternative at 3A, 36W.

No problem running a couple of those, off 1 fan header.
    Done it several times.
Control the light via voltage to fan header, 6V min to light-up and 12V max light.

Thanks Hooded. I know i've tested it before but I could not remember why I'm not using it now. :S
