I moved this from Tutorials section
To some what answer your question.
Are your mounting to water block or an air cooled block?
Most of EK's waterblocks used 3mm.
Many Air cools blocks are mounted with 2.5mm bolts.
SO as you can see we need more info.
What card what manufacturer.
Anything else without that info is just guessing or speculationLast edited by Hooded; 06-19-2014, 10:53 AM.Blue Dragon CM690 II an i7 - 960 x58 build

In this case, I think you will have to secure the backplate by the 4 spring loaded screws around the GPU.

All my Asus DCII cards use 2.5 mm screws to mount the default back plate. The default back plates for those have a special nut crimped into the back plate with a screw coming through the PCB to the back plate. My default back plates also have some 1mm thermal pads behind the cards ram. Also helps to maintain a 1mm gap between pc and back plate.
You will most likely need to remove the air cooled heat sink to find the proper holes in the cards PCB to mount a custom back plate with.Blue Dragon CM690 II an i7 - 960 x58 build
