    Big Toy

    Today a really big toy showed up for the Boilermakers to play with. Of coarse the Ironworkers were all jealous LOL!
    A 550 Tonne Crane configured to lift 50 tonne to a height of 250' at a working radius of 100'

    Boilermakers are lifting 2 46 tonne boilers to top of building.





    I never got to see the actual lift cause my shift ended.

    This crane costs $33,000.00/day on site. It takes 1 day to setup and 1 day to take down. +1 day for the lifting.

        Building Stack

        Here are some shots of the Big Toy in action.

        These shots show the crane lifting a section of the main stack. Section is 40' high and 10' diameter.
        Not sure on weight never asked. Fairly heavy though as it's 1" thick steel so I calculate it to be just over 25 tons.















        The last piece takes to stack from 200' to 240'. Only another 60' to go. These are 3 smaller cone sections that flare out.
