That's a pretty awesome friend to have!! Those toys aren't exactly user-friendly (as you already know). Assuming you did the drawing, I'm sure your friend could do it. But if he has a laser cutter, that might be a lot less work. Cutting up a Case Labs plate in a CNC might mess up the power coat though, no? That would be my main worry, hence the laser cutter suggestion.

Oh god, don't take my word for that! Ask your buddy, I know very little about these things! I didn't mean to mislead you there. I was just kinda thinking out loud. Ask your friend for sure. I know CNCs can do fine work, but I don't know what would happen with powder coated aluminum with even a small cutting bit. It might be perfectly fine, but it's a good question to ask before destroying one.

Every etch I have done was by hand man. but if you have access to cnc and for no cost I would say go that route.
