Good morning fellow PC enthusiasts.
I have decided to begin a build log. I have been upgrading my PC for years, but relatively recently, a disaster occurred. Well, actually two disastrous events... that has led me to rebuild my PC.
The first event was caused by me messing around with PWM settings with my fans, accidentally changing the settings on the CPU header, which led to my pump turning off, and causing a CPU overheat, which caused the Apogee XL-2 water block to crack.
So, until I could find a waterblock I liked that would replace the one that cracked, I went back to air cooling. Then I got a job north of the 60th parallel. When I moved I paid a arm and a leg for Air Canada to ship my PC with me. They destroyed it. it was crushed so bad both Video cards (Asus Direct CUII R9 290X cards and yes they are old, but still were amazing) were damaged beyond repair.
SO, I have now rebuilt my PC more or less. and I want to overclock and also have it look cool. I consider hard tubing to look better, and I have decided to go for PETG hard tube, 16mm od.
My parts list is as follows... more or less. A few omissions likely.
CPU:
AMD Ryzen 1700 (goes to 3.8 with stock cooler, Want to see if I can get to 4.2 or better on water)
Mobo:
Asus Crosshair Hero VI (base model, no wifi or extreme edition)
RAM:
DDR 4 Trident Z RBG memory 3200 16 gig kit, 2x8
Storage:
WD black 256 gig NVME
Samsung 850 pro 256 gig SSD
Seagate Barracuda 3 TB HDD
Seagate Barracuda 2TB HDD
Seagate Barracuda 500 Gig HDD
Videocards:
Two Gigabyte Windforce G1 GTX 970's in SLI (AMD fanboy through and through, but not a lot of options north of 60 that are affordable and I could not take using a placeholder display card anymore... and I cant afford a Vega at these insane prices)
PSU:
Antec 1300 Platinum (why the 1300 for a build that clearly does not need a PSU that strong? That PSU is from when I had a Crosshair Formula Z with a FX-9590 (NO SPACE HEATER JOKES... despite their truth...)and 2 R9 290X cards in crossfire... oh I definitely needed the power then, also it was on sale for only 150... cant say no then)
Case:
Enthoo Luxe Tempered Glass edition
I will now try to add photos, Ill start with before the first disaster, the damage air Canada did, and then the rebirth of deep blue.
