Finally embarking on my eagerly awaited BitFenix Prodigy build.

    Lets get this started!

Components (For the moment at least - I always change my mind down the line.)

Case: BitFenix Prodigy Black mini-itx ORDERED | IN HAND
CPU: i7-3770k ORDERED | IN HAND
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 1600mhz Low Profile / Voltage 1600mhz | IN HAND
    GPU: 6970 with EK-6970v2 + backplate | IN HAND
(For the early stages - When I get enough money I will go for a high end Nvidia card.)
MOBO: ASRock Z77E-ITX LGA 1155 Intel Z77 ORDERED | IN HAND
PSU: Silverstone Strider 650w gold + short cable set ORDERED | IN HAND
    SSD: Samsung 840 Series 500GB 2.5in SATA3 MDX
    HDD: WD Caviar Black 1TB
CUSTOM: Darkside extensions and EK-Supreme LTX UNI CSQ - Canada Edition ORDERED | IN HAND

Cooling and custom stuff from Daz:

I've decided to go with Darkside sleeved extensions in the 'lava' color scheme.
(I suppose someday i'll just sit down and make my own cables and colors. But at this point in my life I do not have patience to do so. Don't hate!)

    I'm thinking
XSPC crossflow 240 rad in the top , DDC pump with mini res.
    http://www.dazmode.com/store/product...or_xspc_ex240/
    http://www.dazmode.com/store/product...op_tank_combo/

Special edition Canada EK block CPU block.
    http://www.dazmode.com/store/product...ion_cpu_block/

Fitting wise I think i'll go 3/8 1/2 Black with Bitspower. Clear tubing and EK Blood red coolant.

Fans...I'm very fond of the low profile scythe fans. They don't make much noise (if at all)
I already have some 2000rpms so i'll probably recycle them into my prodigy.

I'll also pickup a BF 'recon' fan controller.
    http://www.directcanada.com/products/?sku=31230AC4575

    So there you have it.

Case and most of the cooling components will be ordered on april 1st.

As this is a side project I will be taking my time with it. I will update throughout when I receive new parts or make any changes. I'm in no rush to finish this thing though. I estimate putting between 150-200$ per month. Final cost has not been determined.

I know some of you have experience with the Prodigy , please feel free to share any thoughts or tricks (or frustrations!)

Its going to be a fun build , at least I hope!

        Thanks guys!

I'm a small component specialist (Laptop oriented) but it'll be interesting to see how I manage the extra cables since the prodigy is so small. I figure i'll have to spend a little bit more on a fully modular PSU.

You guys think I should go for a seasonic PSU or Corsair - Or does that not really matter?

Seasonic is quality , I understand. But they will run me a little bit more cost-wise.
I see nothing wrong with the corsair PSU , they have pretty decent quality aswell and offer those pre-sleeved cable kits for an additional cost.

Make sure your PSU is short like 140mm to 150mm long not 190mm like a full size PSU

              Cool Prodigy build Neo
try Silverstone modular psu with short cable set

It gets tight in there with regular cable length then extensions
had a hell of a time with mine

              Looks like a fun project
and the Prodigy is a fun case to build in

                  Thanks i'll look into it!

@Daz , yes one of my favorites too. Really love it. I was hesitant to go with red because its a very common color in custom builds nowadays.
But i'll make an exception. Black and Red are my favorite colors anyway.

@Bung Thanks man , I'll check it out.

Very nice list of parts. for the power supply, if you go modular you will need to keep in mind the connector take up room and you need some space to bend the cables (to tight a turn could damage the wire). I bough at AX850 and it's 160mm and it doesn't fit unless i mod the case. a gtx 690 fits if you do not put a rad on the front panel, therefore you can fit any gpu with a standard fans thickness. looking forward to see what the lava color cables in a case so i'll keep an eye open.

Ah. Thank you. I will probably go for a Silverstone modular with short cable set per FF's advice.

                          Thanks guys.
