This is the one processor I've been looking at for a while but trying to convince myself that I really don't need the upgrade from the 4930k

That CPU makes me angry. That's the lowest CPU you can buy in that generation for x99 that has 40 PCIE lanes. With x79, you could get a 40 lane CPU for $300. Intel gimped anyone who wants to run dual GPUs, unless you spend $$$$.

I completely agree with you. I think the only benefit from x79 to x99 is the ram speeds. I think I'll keep mine for now

the 5930k has 40 lanes, its only the 5820k that has 28. Unless you just mean the 6xxx series, but for x99 you can still get the 5930.

Cheapest place to sell that model was newegg and by a large margin too. 4 gigs of ram is good enough. 32GB EMMC storage is too low, but the good news is that there is a M.2 slot inside the laptop which I'm gonna be filling with one of these:

Yeah I meant the 6xxx series. But the 5930K isn't cheap either. Still a dick move by Intel IMO.
