I'm not down on folks that do it, I just add to my list of good advice that you only need so much...

More rads will allow for a quieter build, using fans at less than 20db / 1600 rpm

Only to the point, very quickly it becomes point of diminishing return.

disclosure: I'm not bashing overkill, it just I was studying aviation systems optimization for 6 years in university + 2 years of PhD studies and my teaches put this way of thinking for good in my head. So any unnecessary excess does not sit well with me.

Unfortunately the heat produced by the Tec's need as much raddage as possible to bring temps as close to ambient as possible. This allows the units to use less power for a given temp difference, but for the most part there is no question it is an extreme amount of cooling capability. Surfing or gaming would only require 2 of the tec's going, while some heavy video or OCing up to 5 gig might require the second bank of tec's to kick in and Prime, Aida Extreme or some OCing into the 5.5-5.9 range will need the third set of 2 going. At that point I'm sure I'll be confident the 5-480's will draw away 1300 watts of heat and turn the room into a sauna. May cheat when winter sets in and open the windows at which point -40 C is a reality for the glycol. Will see how many 3770K's I can destroy in the process !
